- Here is what happens to these cars once they retire
Hardcore car enthusiasts are very much attracted to actual race cars because it represents a lot about the culture and fandom of cars. World-famous leagues such as the F1, W.E.C, I.M.S.A, etc. feature breath-taking cars which grab the attention of not only the fans but also of the million people watching the races from all around the world. Every high-performance car we witness on the race track is utilised to the fullest for one or more seasons. However, like professional racers, the car also has a retirement date, i.e., when they are no longer suitable for racing. Well, the answer to this question is a set of multiple possibilities, all of which are dependant upon a variety of factors. So here is what happens to race cars after they retire:
The Race Car Is Destroyed or Scraped Off For Parts

Like all other good things, the career of a race car also comes to an end. To put it practically, if any component of the car gets overused, damaged and cannot be replaced, the car cannot be relied upon to win races. Even if any component does not function with full efficiency, that race car is not used. If there are reasons which prohibit the car from getting sold to earn extra funds, it is generally destroyed. It is very sad, especially for those who dream of driving a sports car even once in their lives.
The Race Car Is Put On Display In A Museum

As silly as it may sound for a race car to be put in a museum, it happens quite often, especially to those cars which have been part of historical races. However, this fate is better than being churned out for parts and sold in the form of scraps. Moreover, some race-winning cars are pieces of art and therefore deserve to be showcased respectfully. There are quite a few museums around the globe that feature such race cars. Some of the cars featured in the museums are cycled out for newer ones, but the respectable status is given to each retired race car never changes.
The Race Car Is Listed For Sale

Another very common thing that happens with fully-functioning race cars once their race-track career ends are that they are listed for sale privately. All race cars, unfortunately, do not get subjected to such a fate. The opportunity to purchase a race car is seen as a golden chance by wealthy car enthusiasts. In fact, the market for selling off race cars is quite vast. Every year, numerous race cars are sold off to high-paying bidders.
The moral is – If you have enough money, you too can sit on the driver seat of such exotic race cars. Race cars are beautifully-crafted pieces of machinery that are built to deliver exceptional performance on the race track. Once they are done with the race track, these high-performance vehicles are regarded as trophies by their respective owners. After all, who would not want such a beauty in their garage?
