    Honda Cars India has recently launched the facelift version of its popular compact sedan, Amaze in India. The car comes with some decent amount of changes on the outside and an extensively redesigned cabin. The car features a number of new safety and comfort features with mechanical changes are only limited to the addition of a new CVT gearbox. Till now the Honda Amaze was the only sub-4 metre sedan in the segment to not come with an automatic gearbox and that has finally changed now. Among its competitors we have the Ford Figo Aspire that comes with segment-first Dual Clutch Transmission (DTC). Similarly Honda is the only car in its segment to come with an equally good CVT gearbox. We pit both the cars to see how they fair against each other on papers.

    Dimensions

    In terms of dimensions, the Honda Amaze facelift remains unchanged measures the same 3990 mm in length, 1680 mm in width and 1505 mm in height. In comparison the Ford Figo Aspire is bigger that the Honda Amaze is all perspective with a total length measuring 3995 mm, a width of 1695 mm and a height of 1525 mm. When it comes to the space between the wheels, the Honda Amaze facelift has a wheelbase of 2405 mm, while the ground clearance has been measured at 165 mm. Here again the Ford Figo Aspire has shown to be a bigger car offer a longer wheel base of 2491 mm, which means more legroom along with a higher ground clearance 174 mm.

    Features & Equipment

    Coming to the feature offerings the CVT gearbox in the Honda Amaze facelift is only offered in the 'S' and 'VX' variant, whereas in the in the Ford Figo Aspire the DCT gearbox comes only in the Titanium variant. So limiting ourselves to these particular variants, the Honda Amaze facelift comes with a host of features like turn indicators on electronic ORVMs, body colour bumpers and door handles, new instrument cluster, power windows, keyless entry, driver seat height adjuster, rear seat hand rest with cup holders, green or heat absorbing windscreen, steering mounted controls, piano black finish on centre console, automatic AC and dual tone black-beige interior colour. When it comes to safety though the Honda Amaze facelift offers some basic features like ABS with EBD, rear defogger, WAVE key, and dual SRS airbags.

    At the same time the Ford Figo Aspire is a more feature rich product compared to the Honda Amaze facelift. The car comes with features like guide me home headlamps, body colour door handles and bumpers, steering wheel mounted audio controls, tilt adjustable steering, premium proteus black interior applique, rear seat arm rest, driver side seat height adjuster, 12V power point, electronic ORVMs with turn indicators, driver side one touch up and down power windows, MyFord Dock, electric boot release, audio system with AUX-in, Bluetooth, FM, CD & MP3 player and dual tone interior colour. Where the Figo really gets an upper hand over the Honda Amaze facelift though is when it comes to safety features. Currently touted to be one of the safest cars in its segment, the Figo Aspire comes with safety features like ABS with EBD, dual airbags, ESP + TCS + HLA, keyless entry and perimeter alarm among others.

    Engine & Transmission

    The Honda Amaze facelift is powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces a maximum of 87bhp and develops a peak torque of 109Nm. It is the petrol engine that comes paired to Honda's tried and tested Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) gearbox.

    The Ford Figo Aspire on the other hand comes powered by the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine the churns out a maximum of 110bhp and a peak torque of 136Nm, which makes it way more powerful than the Honda Amaze. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission or as Ford calls it PowerShift Transmission.
