Honda Cars India's Senior Vice President and Director-Marketing & Sales, Rajesh Goel, has decided to step down from his position. The Japanese carmaker says that Goel has tendered his resignation for personal reasons and decided to pursue other interests outside the organisation. Goel was with Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) for the last 25 years, ever since its inception in India. Rajesh Goel will step down from his role on December 24, 2021, and he will be replaced by Yuichi Murata, who's been the Japanese counterpart to Goel.
Commenting on the development, Honda Cars India said, "It is true that Mr Rajesh Goel has tendered his resignation for personal reasons and decided to pursue other interests outside the organisation. Mr Goel has been a part of HCIL ever since its inception and has made an invaluable contribution to our business while leading several critical functions in the company. We wish him the very best in his future endeavours. He would step down from his position on Dec 24, 2021. It has been decided, Mr Yuichi Murata will take charge as Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd."

Last year, Honda also consolidated its production operations to its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, effectively ending production operations at its old facility in Greater Noida
Goel's exit from the company comes at a time when Honda is facing some major difficulties with production and sales. Due to the supply-chain constraints caused by the global shortage of semiconductor chips, Honda saw a massive 45 per cent decline in year-on-year sales in November 2021. This also led to the company resorting to a few non-production days last month.

Last year, Honda also consolidated its production operations to its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, effectively ending production operations at its old facility in Greater Noida. The transition also led to the discontinuation of its two flagship models - the Civic and the CR-V, which came to India as CKD (Completely Knocked-Down) units and were assembled at the Noida plant. Earlier this year Honda also introduced the updated Amaze subcompact sedan in India, which continues to be one of its best-selling models, along with the City, both accounting for an average of 3000 units per month
