Honda May Introduce Bluetooth Connectivity On Its Two-Wheelers

- Honda has trademarked 'RoadSync' in India
- It could refer to Bluetooth connectivity technology
- OEMs such as TVS, Hero, Suzuki & even Royal Enfield offer Bluetooth tech
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) had applied for a trademark under the name 'RoadSync' in March 2021 that has now been accepted. Globally, it is Honda's two-wheeler app which works in tandem with the Voice Control system, something that is also seen on the Honda H'Ness CB 350, but to use the same, one needs an additional headset. In the Indian context, it could refer to a Bluetooth connectivity system that is already seen on many mass market two-wheelers in India.

The trend of offering Bluetooth connectivity on mass market two-wheelers began with TVS NTorq 125 about three years ago and now most rival companies such as TVS, Hero MotoCorp, Suzuki and even Royal Enfield are offering basic, easy-to-use Bluetooth connectivity which have basic features like turn-by-turn navigation, call alert, SMS alert et al. Honda RoadSync may offer similar features especially on two-wheelers which have a digital display, such as Grazia 125, Hornet 2.0, X-Blade and so on. Of course, the same can also be introduced on Honda's premium two-wheeler sold through its BigWing dealerships. Although top-end models like the CRF1100L Africa Twin already get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Of course, there are a bunch of benefits that come with Bluetooth or smartphone connectivity. The biggest of them is that one stays connected even on the move. Turn-by-turn navigation is a helpful feature to have as well and HMSI can also look at offering other features such as vehicle diagnostics, geo-fencing, music and so on. Plus, Honda can offer the feature as either standard or make it an optional fitment, for a small premium. Having smartphone connectivity on a mass market two-wheeler not only adds to the appeal but also increases the value for money quotient.
