Honda Targets Sales of 3 Lakh Cars in Financial Year 2016-17

Honda Cars India has set a target to raise sales to the 3-lakh mark during financial year 2016-17, a top company official said today. In 2013-14, HCIL registered an increase of 83 per cent by selling 1,34,000 cars.

    Honda Cars India has set a target to raise sales to the 3-lakh mark during financial year 2016-17, a top company official said today. "We have focused on expanding business in the country and would like to raise the sale of cars to cross 3,00,000 mark in financial year 2016-17," HCIL Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Jnaneswar Sen told reporters.

    In 2013-14, HCIL registered an increase of 83 per cent by selling 1,34,000 cars. In the current financial year of 2014-15, the company has sold over 1 lakh cars between April and October. Sen said that presently HCIL has two plants in India at Greater Noida and at Tapukara in Rajasthan's Alwar district. He hinted that company might increase the capacity of its Rajasthan plant to achieve the target of selling 3 lakh cars by 2016-17.

    "Lot of space is available at our Rajasthan plant for expansion," he said. Sen said that the company also plans to set up its third plant in Gujarat for which land acquisition has begun. However, he said that so far, it is not clear about how much the company would invest in its proposed Gujarat plant.

    HCIL would also introduce its Jazz model car in the premium hatchback segment, which would be be available in both petrol and diesel variants, he said.
