Jeep Compass Trailhawk Listed On India website, Confirms 9-Speed AT

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk has been listed on the automaker's website, ahead of its launch scheduled sometime in July this year. The off-road ready version of the compact SUV has been long-awaited and will be bringing some freshness to the offering that was first launched in 2017. The website listing also confirms major details on the SUV including the exterior changes and the addition of a 9-speed automatic transmission on offer, paired with the diesel engine. The Compass Trailhawk will be the new range-topping variant in the SUV's line-up and bookings are unofficially open across FCA's dealerships across the country.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk has been spotted testing a number of times in the country, and we even drove the SUV in Tasmania, Australia, back in 2017. Exterior upgrades on the Trailhawk version include the blacked out grille, new front and rear bumper, hood scoop, and the Trail Rated badging. The SUV also gets the dual-tone paint scheme including the blacked out roof, and ORVMs to keep up with the rugged theme. The new variant also comes with new alloy wheels smoked headlamps and taillight to keep up with the rugged theme.
Changes will extend to the interior as well including a larger 7-inch full colour MID unit, while there will be a new 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto compatibility and more. The cabin will continue to be finished in all-black, but will come with red highlights on the instrument panel, speaker bezels and more. The seats will be upholstered in leather, along with the leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Trailhawk will also get hill descent control and six rear parking sensors as part of the kit.

The big update on the Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be to its powertrain. The off-road spec version will be the first Jeep offering to get a BS6 ready motor. The 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbocharged diesel motor has been upgraded to the upcoming regulations, which is also said to be one of the reasons as to why the automaker delayed the launch. Power output will likely remain the same at 171 bhp and 350 Nm, same as the standard versions. The Trailhawk though will get a 9-speed automatic transmission, bringing the option of a diesel automatic to the Compass. And yes, there will only be a diesel Trailhawk on sale while the Compass Petrol will be offered on the Longitude, Limited and Sport trims.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will also come with the Active Drive Low 4x4 system with 20:1 crawl ratio and the Jeep Selec-Terrain traction control system that gets an additional 'Rock' mode. The SUV rides all-terrain tyres wrapped in 17-inch alloy wheels. Jeep dealers have been accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs. 50,000 for the Compass Trailhawk and the final prices are expected in the vicinity of Rs. 25-28 lakh (ex-showroom). More details on the new version will be available closer to launch, stay tuned!
