Jehan Daruvala To Continue With Carlin Motorsport In 2018 Formula 3

- Jehan Daruvala made his F3 debut this year with Carlin Motorsport
- Jehan is the first ever Indian to participate in FIA Formula 3
- F3 is considered as a stepping stone for aspiring Formula 1 racers
Indian racing contingent Jehan Daruvala will continue racing in the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship with Carlin Motorsport. The Mumbai-based racer made his F3 debut earlier this year and an incredible progress in the series has earned him the seat for the second year in a row. The F3 championship is one of the more crucial racing series outside of F1 and Jehan is the first Indian ever to compete in the championship. In his rookie year, the 19-year-old also proved his mettle having won the F3 Grand Prix in his first ever season.

(Jehan Daruvala was on the F3 rookie podium 26 out of 30 times)
Speaking on his association with Carlin, Jehan Daruvala said, "It has been a fantastic year racing with Carlin. Everyone in the team is very committed to achieving the best possible results. I am happy to be working with them once again and look forward to a successful year."
Making his F3 debut, Jehan also became the first ever Indian to qualify on pole and earn podiums, and finished sixth overall. The Sahara Force Academy driver was also the only racer to complete all thirty races, of which 25 races were within points. The young driver has the highest rookie podium percentage ever in the Rookie Classification of the F3 championship.
With an impressive score card to his name, hopes and aspirations are now much higher from the Indian racer. Speaking on retaining Jehan for the second season, racing director Trevor Carlin said, "It's great news that Jehan remains for us in FIA Formula Three next season - he's been a fantastic addition to the team this year and his results as a rookie have been impressive. He's already a race winner in the series and no doubt has the ability to add more wins and pole positions to his achievements over the course of 2018."

(Jehan became the first ever Indian to win a race, bag pole, and take a total of 3 podiums in F3)
Jehan had a positive 2017 growing in his motorsport career. Daruvala became the first ever India to win a Grand Prix after he dominated the New Zealand Grand Prix in Manfeild. However, much like the other big names in the sport, Jehan started his career with karting winning Indian and international championships, and has also participated in Formula cars driving the Formula Renault 2.0, participating in both the NEC and Euro series in 2016.
Jehan's successful run in F3 till now is expected to open new doors for the promising young racer. F3 is regarded as a stepping stone for most F1 racers including the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher among others. With the next season approaching soon, Daruvala has been testing with the team as he looks ahead to the upcoming season with a year of experience in the championship under his belt.

(The 2018 F3 season will kick start in May in France)
The 2018 F3 season will commence in May at the street circuit of Pau, in France. The thirty race FIA Formula 3 European Championship, will be spread across ten rounds, in eight different countries across Europe.
