Kawasaki Z650RS Launch Likely As 2022 Model

- Kawasaki has released two teaser videos of the retro-styled model
- The Kawasaki Z650RS will be unveiled on September 27, 2021

Kawasaki is all set to introduce the retro-styled Kawasaki Z650RS, which will share the same engine as the Kawasaki Ninja 650. Kawasaki's video teasers and leaked documents have confirmed the Kawasaki Z650RS, which will come in colour options in line with the retro design theme. The new motorcycle is expected to look somewhat similar to the Kawasaki Z900RS, with a comfortable and upright riding position which should make it easy for everyday riding. The new Kawasaki Z650RS will share the same engine and underpinnings as the Kawasaki Z650.

The Z650RS will be powered by the same 649 cc, parallel-twin engine as on the Kawasaki Z650 naked, as well as the Kawasaki Ninja 650, and is expected to make around 68 bhp and 64 Nm of peak torque. Other components, like the frame, suspension and brakes are also expected to be shared with the other 650 cc siblings. The Z650RS will run on 17-inch wheels, and although Kawasaki has not shared any teaser images, or even a glimpse of the new model, it will surely get retro styling.

Rumours of the Kawasaki Z650RS have been around for months now, and Kawasaki has released two teaser videos promising a "Retrovolution" in the near future. In fact, latest reports indicate that type approval documents filed in Europe also confirm the Z650RS as a 2022 model in Kawasaki's line-up. The latest teaser video even has a date for the unveil, and it's September 27, so that's when Kawasaki is expected to unveil the new retro-styled 650. The Z650RS is expected to be launched in India as well, and if it makes it here through the CKD route, expected prices to be in the region of Rs. 7-7.25 lakh (Ex-showroom).
