- Kawasaki Z650RS expected to be retro-styled version of naked Z650
- 649 cc, parallel-twin engine makes 67 bhp, 64 Nm
- New Kawasaki Z650RS expected to be unveiled as a 2022 model
Kawasaki has released a new video on its social media channels teasing a new retro-styled model, which is expected to be the new Kawasaki Z650RS. The video doesn't give away any details of the bike, but shows two riders with open-faced helmets, and just gives a glimpse of the bike's rear view mirror stalks. The new video has been released across Kawasaki's Europe, Australia and Canada channels, and is expected to be a teaser for the 2022 Kawasaki Z650RS. So far, there's no confirmation on if the new model will be launched in India as well.

Ever since Kawasaki introduced the retro-styled Kawasaki Z900RS in 2017, rumours of a retro-flavoured model of the Z650 have been doing the rounds. In fact, some reports even point to type approval documents confirming the development of the Z650RS, so there's a very real possibility that the Z650RS will be introduced, possibly as soon as later this year, to be offered in production form by early 2022.

The Kawasaki Z900 RS is a retro-styled motorcycle based on the Kawasaki Z900. The Z650RS could borrow some design elements from its bigger sibling.
The engine is expected to be the same 649 cc, parallel-twin unit of the standard Kawasaki Z650, which makes 67 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 64 Nm of peak torque at 6,700 rpm. The standard Z650 gets a 4.3-inch TFT panel, as well as smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and Kawasaki's 'Rideology' app. The same features are expected on the Z650RS as well. There's no way to determine how the Z650RS will look like, but from what we can expect, it's likely to borrow a few design elements from the bigger retro-naked Kawasaki Z900RS. As for pricing, the standard Kawasaki Z650 is priced very competitively at Rs. 6.24 lakh (Ex-showroom). If the RS variant is introduced in India, it will still be priced below Rs. 7 lakh (Ex-showroom).
