- The siding covers 46 acres with 8.2 km of electrified tracks
- It connects plants to 17 hubs and export ports
- The project is part of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has commenced operations at what is now India’s largest in-plant railway siding, located within its Manesar manufacturing facility. The project was inaugurated by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Spanning 46 acres, the railway siding includes a fully electrified network comprising four full-length rake tracks and an additional engine escape track, cumulating to 8.2 kilometres. The infrastructure also features a two-storey station building, a dedicated path for train guards and drivers, as well as electronic train interlocking systems.
Vehicles produced at MSIL’s Manesar and Gurugram plants will be transported from this siding to 17 distribution hubs, reaching approximately 380 cities across India. The facility also supports dispatches to the export ports of Mundra and Pipavav. At full operational capacity, the siding can handle up to 4.50 lakh vehicle dispatches annually.

This is part of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan and falls under the broader Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC), a 126-kilometre rail link connecting Sonipat to Palwal. The project has been executed by Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation Ltd (HORCL), a joint venture in which MSIL has invested Rs 325 crore. MSIL’s total investment in the project amounts to approximately Rs 452 crore.
Since the financial year 2014-15, Maruti Suzuki states that it has cumulatively transported over 2.5 million vehicles via the railway network.
