Maruti Suzuki Swift and DZire Get Additional Safety Features

In a bid to further strengthen its position in the market, Maruti Suzuki today announced the addition of dual airbags and ABS as optional safety features on the Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback and DZire sub-compact sedan. To be offered across the entire variant line-up of the two cars, the addition of the aforementioned safety variants translates into a hike in the range of Rs. 11,000 - Rs. 20,000, depending on the selected variant.

Mr R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, MSIL, said, "Swift and DZire are two of the most popular cars in India. Both have played an instrumental role in shaping the Indian automobile industry. The cars are known for contemporary styling, superior comfort, convenience features and performance. By offering driver and co-driver airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) across all variants of Swift and DZire, we want to further strengthen their popularity among customers."

While the Maruti Suzuki Swift has been a bestseller for almost a decade, the DZire has had that honour in its segment for the last three years. Both the cars "have handsomely contributed towards enhancing Maruti Suzuki's market share in the Indian passenger vehicle market." In fact, in the 2014-15 financial year, Swift and DZire together sold an average of over 17,000 units each per month.
Earlier this month, the carmaker had also introduced additional safety features on the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Stingray along with the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission. In fact, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback also received the same treatment as far as safety is concerned. Maruti Suzuki Baleno's entire line-up is amply loaded in terms of safety features - even Sigma, which gets an anti-theft security system, ABS with EBD, dual airbags, and front seat belt pre-tensioners and force limiters among other features.
