Mercedes-AMG C-Class Teased Ahead Of Debut

- New AMG C-class expected to use hybrid 4-cylinder engines
- Teaser reveals details such as an AMG Line bumper and Panamericana grille
- Model teased likely to be from the 43 or 53 series
Mercedes-AMG has teased the first of the performance derivatives of the new C-class. While details remain scarce, the new model teased is expected to be either a C 43 or C 53 derivative of the AMG C-class. The teasers reveals part of the front fascia for the new AMG showcasing a sporty bumper similar to that on the C-class AMG Line variant in global markets and the trademark AMG Panamericana grille. These details suggest that this could be the lower-spec AMG model with the full-blown 63 series performance sedan expected to receive a more comprehensive visual makeover as compared to the regular sedan.
Little else is visible in the teaser though expect the AMG to wear a sportier body kit than the regular c-class as well as sit on sportier design alloy wheels. Inside expect the car to get a number of AMG specific touches such as sports sets, an AMG steering and an AMG specific display option for the digital instrument cluster.

On the engine front, the C-class AMG line-up is expected to feature hybrid four-cylinder powerplants across the range. While details are awaited the 43 or 53 models are expected to use the company's M139 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a hybrid system – likely similar to what debuted in the new SL 43. The M139 2.0-litre turbo is used by several small Mercedes-AMG models such as the A-class, CLA and GLA developing up to 415 bhp in non-hybrid spec. The full-blown C 63 is also expected to feature a four-cylinder engine this time around and feature a more powerful hybrid system to develop additional power.
While we might have to wait a while for the AMG to come to India post its reveal, Mercedes is gearing up to launch the new C-class in India next month.
