Mercedes-AMG Reveals One-Off Will.I.AMG In Collaboration With Will.I.Am

- One-off creation based on the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe
- Engine remains unchanged
- Design inspiration taken from the SLS AMG and G-Class
Mercedes-AMG in collaboration with the music artist will.i.am – real name William Adams, has revealed a one-off creation called the Will.I.AMG or The Flip. The creation is based on the Mercedes-AMG 4-Door Coupe with the final product built by the West Coast Customs design house. The final car mixes the looks of the Mercedes G-Class with that of the AMG GT to form a rather unique looking two-door coupe.
"Our cooperation with will.i.am has reached a new peak with 'The Flip'. We have inspired and motivated each other in the realisation of this holistic concept, which is far more than an exceptional automotive one-off. We take our responsibility to society seriously. The success of Mercedes-AMG as a Performance Luxury brand also depends to a large extent on inspiring the next generation and giving them easy access to the latest technologies and digital progress. It is part of our tradition to always be pioneers and to dare to do something new. We are continuing this legacy into the future together with will.i.am and 'The Flip'", according to Philipp Schiemer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
The front styling of the Will.I.AMG draws inspiration from the G-Class with its upright and boxy proportions, circular lights and squared fenders. The grille features a unique Mercedes logo with the three-point star embedded into the face of a bear. The four-door body has been reworked to a two-door coupe style with rear-ward opening doors. The roof has been modified to feature two glass panels extending back from the windshield.

The Flip blends styling of the G-class and SLS AMG and was built by West Coast Customs
The engine however has remained unchanged from the stock AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.
“I didn't touch the engine, because AMG really does make the best engines,” will.i.am said.
The Flip will be displayed during the upcoming Miami F1 race and will be revealed at the event in the presence of prominent guests such as F1 driver and multi-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes says that all activities surrounding the car will benefit the i.am/Angle Foundation to help lift communities out of poverty.
Mercedes-AMG in a statement said that the purpose of this project is “to give more students from disadvantaged communities access to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) education in order to be equipped with the skills required for future-focused jobs and to invent new technologies.”
