Next-Gen Kia Soul Spied For The First Time

Kia Soul has been one of the most popular compact-crossover for the company since its launch in 2009. It became an instant hit with the masses due to its bold styling and features it had on offer. Now, 10-years down the line, the South Korean company is yet again looking to recreate the magic with the 2019 Kia Soul that was recently spotted undergoing extreme weather tests on a frozen lake. While the Soul had AWD function for some time now, reports suggest that the new generation Soul will get the FWD function and is built on a completely new platform. KIA Motors will most likely unveil the 2018 Kia Soul either at the 2018 Los Angeles Motor Show or the 2019 North American Motor Show.

The 2019 Kia Soul will continue with the boxy shape and upturned rear window, but has turned beefier than before. It is said that the new Soul has underpinnings from the Trail'ster AWD concept model from a few years back. With its heavy camouflage, it is difficult to say what changes have undergone, but Kia designers have maintained the traditional look of the compact crossover.
In terms of features, it is still unclear the upgrades that the 2019 Kia Soul will receive. While autonomous features were optional in the previous model, the new generations would most likely focus to give this feature as standard.

Under the hood, reports suggest that Kia is working on an electric version of the Soul as well which will be revealed alongside the FWD version. The FWD Soul would most likely come with the same engine options from the previous generation- a 1.6-litre petrol engine with 125 bhp while the 2.0-litre mill will give churn out max power of 157 bhp. The 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine will produce 198 bhp of max power. All the engines will come mated to a 7-Speed dual-clutch gearbox.
