Highlights

  • The new-gen Hyundai Tucson is expected to go on sale early in 2022.
  • It's a big departure from its predecessor in terms of design and features
  • It will likely continue with the same engine and gearbox options.

The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson made its global debut in September last year and the Korean carmaker started testing the new SUV in India earlier this year in October. The new Hyundai Tucson is expected to go on sale in India early in 2022 and spy images of the new Hyundai Tucson loaded on cargo carrier have surfaced online. However, the company says that these models are not for the Indian market and are being exported to neighbouring markets like Nepal and Bhutan. The company is yet tight lipped about its India launch and hasn't given any timeline.

The new-gen Hyundai Tucson looks very sharp and is a huge departure than the outgoing model.

The next-generation Hyundai Tucson sports a completely new design language for the company which is expected to trickle down to the Hyundai Creta facelift and possibly the Venue facelift as well in the future. The Tucson in the pictures looks identical to the global model and is a huge departure from its predecessor. The design is razor sharp and the front styling sporting the new grille with integrated LED DRLs looks quite futuristic. The LED headlights are all-new and so is the bumper. We also see more angular body cladding, blacked-out pillars with the floating roof aesthetic, and new LED taillight design with an LED light strip across the tailgate. Elements like new alloy wheels, contrast coloured roof rails and chrome surround on the window too complement the overall design.

The front end of the new Hyundai Tucson looks very futuristic.

On the inside, the new-generation Hyundai Tuscon is likely to carry over the same layout and features as the global spec model. This includes a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluelink connected car tech, touch controls for the climate control system, ambient lighting, e-parking brake, and a switch for gear changes instead of a conventional gear lever. The cabin will likely get the all-black upholstery as the global model or Hyundai can opt for beige and brown options generally preferred by Indian buyers.

The huge attraction inside the new Tucson's cabin is the large 10.25-inch touchscreen, and the climate control touch panel which dominate the design.

Under the hood, we expect to see the tried and tested 2.0-lire, four-cylinder, turbo petrol and diesel engine options. Transmission choices will include the six-speed manual and automatic, along with all-wheel drive (AWD) in certain variants. More details on the new generation Tucson for India is expected to unfold next year when the SUV will go on sale in our market.
