The change in the India leadership team comes at a time when Nissan is undertaking measures to streamline production and reduce costs across its global operations in a bid to turn profitable. Earlier in May 2025, the company said that it remains committed to its India operations, with plans to introduce new models also still in place.

As for the new models in question, the first to arrive will be a three-row subcompact MPV, which will be based on the Renault Triber’s platform. The other two models will include a 5-seater compact SUV to rival the likes of the Creta, Seltos, and Grand Vitara, and its 3-row derivative.

These new products are extremely important for Nissan’s future strategy to work. The last new launch from the company was the X-Trail, which entered the Indian market as a completely built-up (CBU) unit in 2024 but failed to do anything for Nissan due to its steep pricing and lack of premium creature comforts.
