One Unit of Toyota Innova Produced Every 1.6 Minutes in Indonesia

The new Toyota Innova was recently launched in Indonesia at a starting price of 282 million Indonesian Rupiah (Rs. 13.64 lakh). Toyota, that is currently manufacturing the MPV only in Indonesia, invested 5 trillion Indonesian Rupiah (approximately Rs. 2,423 crore) in its Indonesian facility. Nandi Julianto, Director of Production Engineering, Toyota Motor Manufaturing Indonesia, said that the facility now produces a new Toyota Innova every 1.6 minutes (96 seconds).

Interestingly, he thinks that time can be further reduced to 1.5 minutes (90 seconds) once the company starts the production with full force. Since production for the new generation Toyota Innova was started only in the first week of November, the process has been gradual since the carmaker is working to ensure quality. In fact, about the first 100 units were used primarily for quality checks before being sent off to dealers.

The Toyota Innova 2016 has garnered a lot of interest from across the globe since it was first teased. The MPV now looks remarkably different; it sports an all-new grille, sweptback head-lamps, LED daytime running lamps, new fog-lamps, pronounced wheel-arches, an all-new rear bumper, and refurbished tail-lamps among other changes.
