Porsche has announced the introduction of the eighth-gen 911 Carrera Coupe and 911 Carrera Cabriolet. The new Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe and Cabriolet now join the Carrera S and the Carrera 4S range which were introduced last year at the LA Auto Show, followed by an India launch in April this year. The Carrera is the entry-level model in the Porsche 911 range, and visually, the 2019 Porsche 911 Carrera is distinguished by smaller sized wheels, brakes and tailpipe covers on the exhaust system.
The 2019 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe and 911 Carrera Cabriolet are powered by the same 3.0-litre, six-cylinder boxer engine that is tuned to generate around 380 bhp, 15 bhp more power output than its predecessor. The transmission duties are handled by the new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK), which enables the 911 Carrera Coupé to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.2 seconds, with a top speed of 293 kmph. Porsche also offers an optional Sport Chrono Package shaves a further 0.2 seconds off the sprint time.
The cabin, on the other hand, comes with a 10.9-inch touchscreen display, comprehensive connectivity and innovative assistance systems, such as the Porsche Wet Mode that ensures even safer handling. The new 911 Carrera range comes with mixed tyre configuration, featuring 19-inch alloy wheels up front, shod in 235/40 ZR tyres, and 20-inch wheels with 295/35 ZR tyres at the rear. Stopping power is provided on both axles by 330-millimetre brake discs with black, four-piston monobloc fixed callipers.
