Rolls-Royce Boat Tail Makes Global Debut At 2021 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este

- Rolls-Royce Boat Tail makes its first-ever public debut at Villa d'Este
- The Boat Tail is a soft-top convertible that is nearly 5800 mm long
- The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail is the company's latest coachbuilt vehicle
Rolls-Royce recently dropped details of its first fully electric car which will go on sale in the last quarter of 2023. Now, the super-luxury car brand has showcased its latest coachbuilt vehicle, the Boat Tail at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on the Mosaic Lawn within the grounds of the Grand Hotel Villa d'Este, on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. The car is being exhibited four years after the first coachbuilt Rolls-Royce, the Sweptail, was launched at the same event in 2017.

The car was unveiled on the Mosaic Lawn by Torsten Muller-Otvos, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
This is the first time Boat Tail has been displayed in public for two days offering a unique opportunity to examine the car's remarkable coachbuilt construction and extraordinary Bespoke detailing, which are designed and hand-built at the Home of Rolls-Royce in a highly demanding technical and creative project lasting almost four years.
The company had previously confirmed that coachbuilding will be a permanent part of the company' future portfolio. Taking inspiration from a sailing boat and a yacht, and the original 1932 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Boattail Tourer, the new-age Boat Tail is a soft-top convertible that is nearly 5800 mm long, featuring the brand's iconic pantheon grille and classic circular lights along with LED DRLs.

At the press of a button, the rear deck opens in a sweeping butterfly gesture, to reveal an intricate and generous hosting suite
Torsten Muller-Otvos, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said, "It is a wonderful privilege to reveal this unique Rolls-Royce to the world for the very first time. Although images have been widely shared, the car itself has not been displayed in public before. The Villa d'Este Concorso d'Eleganza is the perfect occasion, bringing together leading international media alongside knowledgeable motoring experts and discerning luxury aficionados, on the glamorous shores of Lake Como. There is also a pleasing symmetry in that we launched the first coachbuilt Rolls-Royce of the modern era, Sweptail, at the 2017 event."
He further added, "It is a truly historic moment for the marque. We are leading a modern coachbuilding movement that takes the wider luxury industry into an entirely different space, where hyper-personalisation and contemporary patronage provide essentially limitless possibilities."

A Montblanc pen resides in a discretely placed, hand-crafted, case of aluminium and leather, in the car's glove box.
The exterior of Rolls-Royce Boat Tail is treated in a complex dual tone of blue and black, with matching multi-spoke alloy wheels. In fact, for the first time, Rolls-Royce is offering a hand-painted gradated bonnet. The nautical references at the rear become more apparent thanks to the aft deck, which incorporates large swathes of wood. The deck opens in a sweeping butterfly gesture at the press of a button to reveal an intricate and generous hosting suite. The cabin comes with a leather interior that matches the bonnet's colour tone with the front seats swathed in the darker blue hue, recognising Boat Tail's driver-focused intent, while the rear seats are finished in the lighter tone. The car also comes with unique BOVET 1822 timepieces, 15-speaker Bespoke Rolls-Royce Audio System, signature Rolls-Royce umbrellas, and more.
