Known as the IT capital of India, Bangalore is one of the most prosperous cities in the country. However, going to an office, coming back, and repeating the same routine every day can become quite monotonous and stressful eventually. This is when planning a trip to a close-by, yet peaceful place can be helpful. Mentioned in this article are some places you can visit when you are fed up with city life and want some time to yourself.
Nandi hills:
Located rather close to the main city, Nandi Hills is one such place you should not miss out on. This hill fortress is quite a sight to see, and being only 60 km away from Bangalore, it acts as the perfect weekend getaway for the residents there. Although it is most commonly known for the greenery and viewpoints, this place also boasts quite a few monuments, temples, and shrines.
The beauty of this place attracted Tipu Sultan, and he made it his summer retreat. Hence, it has numerous traces of this ruler's life and legacy. You can still visit his summer residence in the hills, known as Tashk-e-Jannat, loosely translating to 'Cushion of Heaven.' The mastery in its architecture, along with the artfully crafted ceilings, is one of the major attractions for tourists here.

You can also visit the famous shrines and temples here, like the Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple, which is made for Lord Shiva and his companions, namely Parvati and Nandi. This temple is one of the oldest in the area and is an architectural wonder. However, if you are more interested in having a fun and adventurous weekend, you can indulge in activities like paragliding and try its cycling routes and trekking trails.
Coorg:
Although a little further away than Nandi Hills at 267 km from the main city, this is another amazing weekend getaway destination that you cannot miss when in Bangalore. The jaw-dropping beauty of this location has mesmerized quite a few tourists here and is sure to do the same for you. Also known as the 'Scotland of India,' Coorg justifies its beauty. It is a place filled with luxury, history, adventure, and amazing cuisine.
This is also the home of a unique local clan known as Kodavas, who are very well-trained in martial arts and known for their hospitality. This place is such a favorite for tourists all around the world, mainly because of its beautiful landscape and trekking spots available. This can be an amazing place to be if you have some time off during the weekends.

Whether you are a foodie, want a relaxing trip, or want to indulge in adventure sports with your friends and family, this place has got it all. With its much-acclaimed trekking spots and white water rafting, Coorg is the one-stop-shop for all your thrill-seekers. When here, make sure you do not forget to visit some of its mesmerizing towns like Pollibetta, Somwarpet, Kushalnagar, and Gonikoppal.
Dandeli:
Known to be the adventure capital of south India, this is located about 460 km from the city of Bangalore. Dandeli is one such place people visit for both peace and adventure-filled trip. It is situated near the rocky trails of the Western Ghats and at the height of 1551 ft above sea level.
An important part of the Western Ghats, this place is mainly famous for the several trails and its greenery. You can take adventurous hikes while also enjoying the beauty of the Western Ghats. Apart from the several adventurous sports you can indulge in here, this place is also famous for the numerous historical places, including the ancient caves of Kavla, Utavi Temple, and a lot more.

You can either explore the Syntheri Rocks in this city or head to Kali River to enjoy boat rides, whitewater rafting, or Kayaking. This is by far the best place you can be if you are near Bangalore and are looking for a short trip somewhere close by.
These are the three top-rated places you can visit for a relaxing yet fun-filled weekend trip close to Bangalore. However, there are quite a few other places you can visit as well, like Chikmagalur and Ooty, for similar experiences.
