- The Toyota concept also comes with gullwing doors
- The Toyota i-ride uses a joystick that gets acclerate & braking functions
Toyota had introduced a Concept-i at the beginning of 2017 and it was meant for urban transport. Now, the company has downsized that concept too and will be showcasing the Concept-i Ride which is meant to be for the urban environment too, specifically for the shrinking cities. The size itself shows you how small it is and what's also interesting is that it features gullwing doors. Now, the Concept-I could possibly the smallest car to come equipped with gullwing doors but they serve another purpose than just making the car look good. In fact, the Concept-i helps to ease access inside the cabin for people in a wheelchair.

Thanks to the large opening of the doors, it helps in getting in and out of the car easy. In fact, the Concept-i is a two seater electric car and once you open the door, the electrically operated seat automatically slides to the entrance, thus making it easier for those in a wheelchair to move to the car's seat. In the rear compartment, there's enough space to store a folded wheelchair, as seen in the picture.

(The Toyota i-ride Concept can travel a distance of 150 km on a single charge)
The Concept-i uses a joystick that also incorporates the accelerator and brake functions. The driver actually sits in the middle and can enable the Concept-i Ride to take care of parking thanks to the onboard assistance systems.

(The Toyota i-ride Concept is compact with a wheelbase of 1800 mm)
It's super compact too as it measures in at 2500mm in length, 1300 mm in width and 1500mm in height. Wheelbase of the car is 1800 mm and thanks to the electric motor the Concept-i can travel a distance of 150 km on single charge. There's a lot coming at the Tokyo Motor Show from Toyota and we can't wait to see and know more about these cars.
