Toyota Yaris: Price Expectation In India
We expect the Toyota Yaris to be priced between Rs. 7.5 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh, considering that only the petrol model will be launched initially.

The fact that the Toyota Yaris will soon be launched in India is no secret. It was showcased a couple of months ago at the 2018 Auto Expo and we know quite a bit about the Yaris. Toyota is confident about the Yaris as it will be entering into a highly competitive segment where players such as the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. We believe that Toyota will launch the Yaris in the next one month or so. In a bid to make its mark in the segment, Toyota will be offering a host of features along with efficient engines and spacious interiors to take a substantial slice of the pie.

Talking about the features, the Yaris gets quite a few segment first features such as seven airbags (including curtain airbags and knee airbags), roof-mounted AC vents for circulation, tyre pressure monitoring system and gesture control for audio. Other features include front parking sensors, disc brakes on all wheels, LED daytime running lamps, reverse parking camera, start-stop button, cruise control and paddleshifts on the continuous variable transmission models.

To begin with, Toyota will be offering only a 1.5-litre dual-VVTi petrol engine on the Yaris, which makes 108 bhp and 140 Nm. The Yaris will be offered with either a six-speed manual or a continuous variable transmission. There is no word on when Toyota will introduce a diesel engine on the Yaris in India.

Toyota will also offer electronics such as anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution system and stability control. In fact, the Toyota Yaris has been awarded 5-stars in the ASEAN NCAP crash tests. Toyota will be manufacturing the Yaris at its facility in Bengaluru and says that the localisation will be kept high in order to keep the prices competitive.

Coming to the expected pricing, we believe that Toyota will set the starting price of the Yaris at around Rs. 7.5 lakh for the base variant and the top-spec fully loaded model can go up to Rs. 9.5 lakh or Rs. 10 lakh. We believe that Toyota will have an aggressive pricing strategy in place so that appeal to the buyers in this segment.
