Skoda Auto India has released the design sketches of its upcoming compact SUV, Skoda Kushaq's interior. Based on the carmaker's new localised MQB-A0 IN platform, the new Kushaq is slated to make its global debut in India on March 18, 2021, and it will be the first of the four new models from the Skoda and Volkswagen brands that are set to be launched as part of the India 2.0 product campaign. The official design sketches hint at a spacious interior, featuring a large free-standing infotainment display at the centre, and a stylish 2-spoke steering wheel, similar to the one seen in the 2021 Skoda Superb.

The Kushaq will also come with a large digital instrument cluster and large air-con vents, and a stylish 2-spoke steering wheel

Based on the design sketches, the cabin of the Skoda Kushaq is likely to come with a minimalist design with dual-tone treatment and contrast accents, which are likely to be matched to the exterior colour of the car. In this case, we get to see some orange elements. The major highlight of the cabin will be the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, which is likely to come with features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Kushaq will also come with a large digital instrument cluster and large air-con vents, along with a spacious cabin featuring numerous storage options.

The signature butterfly grille makes it evident that it's a Skoda, while the front bumper with underbody protection gives the SUV an aggressive look

Skoda says that the dimensions of the upcoming Kushaq will correspond to those of a mid-size vehicle. Also, the previously released exterior sketches tell us that the production-spec model will come with sharply cut, two-part front headlights, which extend to the wide grille, to give it a unique look. The signature butterfly grille makes it evident that it's a Skoda, while the front bumper with underbody protection gives the SUV an aggressive look. The rear section comes with an elongated roof spoiler and a rugged rear diffuser in the bumper. The taillights of the SUV feature the brand's trademark crystalline design, and at the centre of the tailgate, it will have the big Skoda lettering.

Under the hood, the 2021 Skoda Kushaq will come with two turbocharged engines - a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI motor seen in the Rapid and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TSI engine borrowed from the Karoq. Skoda will also offer three transmission choices with the Kushaq - a six-speed manual transmission, and an optional six-speed automatic torque converter for the 1.0-litre motor, and a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission for the bigger 1.5-litre unit.
