7 Things To Avoid Doing While Driving An Automatic Car

- Avoid Shifting into Drive mode and accelerating to a high speed.
- Avoid shifting into the park without hitting the brakes.
- The damage occurs when you switch in and out of the neutral mode.
It's no secret that handling an automatic car is a breeze. Even with beginner-like driving skills, you can drive an automatic car like a pro. However, most people take its easy handling for granted. If you are committing these seven mistakes with your automatic car, stop it right away!
Driving Down a Slope in Neutral Mode
Doing this will prevent you from accelerating the car and only slow it down. It cuts down the oil supply, and the transmission is cut down from receiving lubrication. In short, this habit will lead the system to damage and wear.

Reviving Engine Before Switching Gear
We are all guilty of doing this at least once in our life. Doing this leads to a massive shock to the transmission. It generates more friction between the internal components that can damage the internal engine parts.
Shifting Modes When Car is Still Rolling
Shifting the gear when the car rolls makes the transmission system change direction. This habit will put unnecessary trauma on the gearbox. It would be best if you used the brakes instead to bring the vehicle to rest. Some people also shift into the park without hitting the brakes, which can harm your car's performance.
Keep Car in Neutral At Traffic
Many drivers do this to save fuel and protect the driveline from wear. However, one thing that most people are unaware of is that the loss is minimal when you push the brakes by maintaining the drive mode. The damage occurs when you switch in and out of the neutral mode.
Switching to Parking Mode Even Before Stopping the Car
Shifting to the parking mode causes the car's system to insert a locking pin into a gear attached to the gearbox's output shaft. Note that the wheels are also connected to the same shaft. So when you hit the parking mode and try to roll the vehicle simultaneously, there's a high chance of breaking the locking pin.

Keeping Fuel Tank at Low
Remember this – automatic cars depend on the fuel pressure to operate smoothly. Fuel helps the engine and other parts remain lubricated and stay calm. So, if the tank is at a low all the time, these components will wear out faster.
Driving Without Engine Warmup
This habit can cause havoc in your vehicle, especially on cold days. During the winters, the oil thickens and tends to flow slower than usual. It would be best if you allowed the fuel to flow into the transmission and spread around for some time. Shifting into Drive mode and accelerating to a high speed right away can cause internal damage.

Automatic vehicles have indeed made our lives easier. They may seem easy-going but, at the same time, also require cautiousness from your side. Refrain from committing the above mistakes, and your automatic car will run strong for years to come!
