Benelli BN 125 Unveiled For Europe

- 125 cc single-cylinder engine with 11 bhp, 10 Nm
- Benelli BN 125 has been unveiled for European markets; unlikely for India
- Entry-level naked will go up against the likes of KTM 125 Duke
Chinese-owned Italian motorcycle brand Benelli has unveiled a small 125 cc naked motorcycle for the European market. Called the Benelli BN 125, the new motorcycle is targeted at young or new riders, and borrows styling cues from its bigger sibling, the Benelli TNT 302, which used to be offered on sale in India. The BN 125 has similar styling and colour options, and comes with the option of a red coloured tubular frame with black and dark gray bodywork, or the more eye-popping neon-coloured bodywork with a black-finished frame.

The BN 125 is based on a 125 cc air-cooled engine with 11 bhp and 10 Nm
The Benelli BN 125 is powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled four-stroke engine with electronic fuel injection which makes 11 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 10 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 5-speed gearbox, while braking is a simple combined braking system (CBS), and not anti-lock braking system (ABS), with a 260 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc brake. The BN 125 has a kerb weight of 142 kg, and comes with a 13.5 litre fuel tank. Suspension duties are handled by an upside down fork and a rear monoshock, with 17-inch cast wheels at both ends.

The Benelli BN 125 will now be offered in the European market only and will retail at 2,499 Euros (approximated Rs. 2.03 lakh). As of now, there are no plans for an India launch, and the price tag is considerably high for the Indian market anyway, considering it will go up against a crop of popular 125 cc motorcycles in India, including the made-in-India KTM 125 Duke. So far, we have no indication of Benelli India making any plans to introduce the BN 125 in India.
