Key Highlights
- India has seen several iconic bikes over the years.
- Some of them include the Mini Bullet from Royal Enfield and Rajdoot GTs
- Many of these bikes have become a part of automotive folklore in India
Many iconic bikes have graced the Indian market with their presence over several years. While some of them are forgotten beauties today, a nostalgia trip can't hurt! Here's taking a fond look back at the same:

- Mini Bullet (Royal Enfield) - The Royal Enfield Bullet deserves special mention and certainly needs no introduction! It is arguably one of the finest and most iconic bikes ever made (and still made) in India. However, not everyone was once able to ride it comfortably owing to the hefty weight and size. Hence, the brand launched this charming Mini Bullet with a 200 cc engine and a lighter frame.
- Rajdoot GTS- This famous Rajdoot spin-off was a mini-bike in itself, getting a two-stroke 175 cc engine and decent features. It became even more popular after being shown in the mega-hit movie Bobby.
- Royal Enfield Explorer- The Royal Enfield Explorer came out of the collaboration between the brand and Zundapp from Germany. This got a two-stroke 50 cc engine and a three-speed manual transmission setup.
- Yezdi 350- JAWA made an attempt to take on the RD350 from Yamaha, with this Yezdi 350 model. The petrol engine made 21 hp and the bike was initially well-received in the country.
- Hero-BMW Funduro 650- This one was priced at a king's ransom of INR 5 lakh when it launched in the year 1996. It came with huge power figure and was the first Indian adventure model retailed by Hero.
- Royal Enfield Fury- This is another charming model that resulted from the Zundapp collaboration. It got a two-stroke 163 cc engine paired to a five-speed transmission system. It did give tough competition to the Yamaha RX100 once upon a time.
- LML Graptor- LML (Lohia Machinery Limited) unveiled this flagship model for taking on the Pulsar. The bike got a four-stroke 150 cc engine with a five-speed transmission setup, making 13.4 hp and 12.8 Nm back in the day. However, the design by all admissions was unique and quirky.
- Bajaj Boxer 150- This bike was made by the brand for markets in Africa. It ultimately arrived in some rural markets and while being a potent offering, failed to set the sales charts soaring.

These are some of the most iconic yet forgotten models that arrived in India in the past.
