BMW Motorrad Reports Best-Ever Sales In 2021

- BMW Motorrad despatches nearly 2 lakh bikes to customers worldwide
- BMW R 1250 GS continues to be bestselling model
- BMW R 1250 RT, BMW R 18 models good contributors to sales
BMW Motorrad has reported the brand's best-ever year in terms of global sales in 2021. In all, the German brand has reported deliveries to customers a total of 1,94,261 two-wheeler units in 2021, a 14.8 per cent increase over its 2020 sales number. A year ago, BMW Motorrad had delivered 1,69,272 motorcycles to customers around the world. Before 2021's record sales numbers, BMW Motorrad's best sales year on record was 2019, when the company had delivered 1,75,162 motorcycles to customers worldwide.

The flagship adventure tourer, the BMW R 1250 GS made a vital contribution to the success of the brand in 2021, with around 60,000 units sold worldwide. According to BMW Motorrad, the all-new BMW R 1250 RT also got off to a good start in global markets, as did the large BMW R 18 cruiser models, with four variants introduced so far. The BMW S 1000 RR was also among the popular BMW Motorrad models which made significant contribution to overall sales volumes.

The BMW R 1250 RT also made noteworthy contributions to the brand's annual sales in 2021.
In 2021, BMW Motorrrad also updated the R 1250 GS, with new colours and updated electronics, although the basic mechanicals remain the same. The Hill Start Control (HSC) has been updated on the BMW R 1250 GS to HSC Pro. In addition to the road and rain riding modes, the 2021 R 1250 GS series gets Pro riding modes as well. These include dynamic, dynamic pro, enduro and enduro pro. The 'dynamic pro' and 'enduro pro' riding modes further get individualisation options to set the motorcycle to individual requirements.

In 2021, BMW Motorrad India also reported the best-ever annual sales numbers, delivering 5,000 motorcycles to customers. The sales momentum was primarily driven by the company's entry range - the BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS motorcycles which commanded a share of nearly 90 per cent of the annual sales.
