Car Lights - Which one must be used and when?

Car manufacturers give a lot of emphasis on the safety of the driver. New technologies are developed so that the chances of accidents can be reduced to a minimal level. One such key feature is “car lights”. There are various kinds of car lights that perform specific functions. The main aim is to increase visibility at all times and keep the passengers safe from any accidents. It is crucial for the drivers to know which lights to use and during which periods.

Daylight running lights
The main aim is to increase visibility. These lights are typically installed at the front and rear end of the car and can turn on automatically when the engine is switched on.
Dipped headlights (Low beam headlights)
These lights are generally used at night time. The excessive flare can lead to accidents which is why these lights have a lower intensity. These can also be used during daytime during adverse conditions (such as fog or excessive rain).

Full beam headlights
Timing is extremely crucial when it comes to full beam headlights. These lights signal other drivers about the presence of the car. But these lights should not be used if there is traffic nearby since these can blind the other drivers. When the driver is facing difficulty noticing the road ahead, and there are no vehicles nearby, that is when these headlights should be turned on.
It is risky to use these lights even around tight junctions and corners in the hills since there is no way of knowing if a car is coming.
Fog lights
These lights have a unique widened shape and are located near the front bumper. These lights are extremely useful during foggy weather since the location and wide-area allow the lights to reflect light off the road. That way, the driver is not startled.
Taillights
These are positioned on the rear part of the vehicle. These lights let other drivers know about the presence of the vehicle.
Indicators/Signal Lights
The main aim of these lights is to give an indication to other drivers when the car is making a turn. These are located on the front and rear portions of the vehicle. These let drivers know that the car has to slow down for a turn.
Brake lights
Brake lights give an indication to other drivers that the car is coming to a halt or slowing down.
Hazard lights
These are also known as flashers. These lights are used to indicate distress or any sort of problem. These should strictly be used in case the car has broken down or is causing some sort of obstruction.
Interior lights
These lights are mainly used to check directions or read something in the car. They shouldn't be kept on during driving as they could distract the driver.
