Car Sales August 2021: Toyota Sells 12,772 Units In Domestic Market; Sees 2.5% Drop Over July

- Toyota sold 12,772 units in August 2021 in the domestic market
- Toyota's cumulative figures for Jan-Aug 2021 stood at 85,209 units
- The Toyota Innova Crysta and Fortuner remain the brand's best-sellers
Toyota India has released the monthly sales for August 2021. Last month, the Japanese carmaker sold 12,772 units in the domestic market, registering a growth of 130 per cent compared to 5,555 units sold in the corresponding month last year. Compared to 13,105 units sold in July 2021, the company has recorded a month-on-month (M-o-M) decline of 2.5 per cent. The cumulative wholesale numbers for January to August 2021 period stood at 85,209 units when compared to 39,627 units sold in the corresponding period last year, recording a growth of 115 per cent.

The Fortuner and the Innova Crysta remained front-runners for the brand in August 2021
The company said it saw steady growth in sales post the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and the trend continued in August as well. The Innova Crysta and the Fortuner continue to remain the front-runners when it comes to volumes for the brand, followed by the Glanza and the Urban Cruiser.
Commenting on the momentum, V. Wiseline Sigamani, Associate General Manager (AGM), Sales and Strategic Marketing, TKM said, "We are witnessing a steady growth after the second wave and the trend continues in August as well. Customer orders are healthy, and the retail sales have shown an improvement as compared to last month. The segment dominance of Innova Crysta and Fortuner continues, as both the models have recorded good demand and witnessing growing sales in their respective segments. Glanza and Urban Cruiser also continue to garner sustained sales; we are happy to note that both the offerings continue to meet the aspirations of our younger customers. We are thankful to all our customers for their relentless support to the brand and the trust they have shown in our entire range of products.

He further added, "We expect the positive demand trend to continue due to the resumption of economic activity, uptick in personal mobility and overall improvement in market sentiment. As the festive season draws closer, and to meet the expectation and convenience of our customers, we are making every effort to offer better services, enhance digitalization of our sales operations and reduce delivery time. In the month of August, we launched our 'Virtual Showroom' to further enhance customer experience in the new normal. Our constant efforts are to deliver exceptional customer experience across all touch points, and we believe the virtual showroom will enable customers to seamlessly access their favorite Toyota vehicles online."
