Car Sales June 2021: MG Motor India Sold 3,558 Units In June 2021

- MG's June 2021 sales grew three-fold over May 2021 sales
- MG re-launched its doorstep car servicing programme
- MG sold a total of 7,139 units domestically in Q2 of 2021
MG Motor India sold 3,558 units in June 2021, which is a 250 per cent growth from the 1,016 units sold in May 2021. MG said that the phased unlocking across the country helped it get increased enquiries and bookings last month. The company also said that production levels were impacted in June due to a global shortage of semi-conductor chips and MG sees it continuing in July and August 2021 as well. MG sold a total of 7,139 units during the second quarter of 2021, which is a significant growth of 162 per cent over 2,722 units sold in the same quarter last year. But, it needs to be mentioned that most manufacturers saw zero sales in April 2020 and for the most part of May 2020 on account of a country-wide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Commenting on the sales performance, Rakesh Sidana, Director - Sales, MG Motor India, said, "We are seeing early signs of positive consumer sentiment in June and potential purchases due to pent-up demand, which was on hold due to the pandemic. Even though some markets are still under lockdown, the ramping up of the vaccination drive has given us hope and we expect the demand to increase during the festival season. However, we have to remain cautious of the potential threat posed by the third wave."

MG Motor India also reintroduced the 'MG Care At Home' programme, under which the company offers doorstep vehicle servicing and sanitisation. The carmaker said that the service was relaunched following increased demand from customers, who wanted to avail the services at the doorstep amidst the ongoing second wave of the coronavirus. Under this initiative, MG Motor India is offering select, contactless services at the customers' homes, which include car sanitisation and fumigation, general car check-up, and car dry wash in addition to minor repairs and fitments.
