Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Teased In A YouTube Video

- The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled should make its debut at EICMA
- It will be more suited to ride in off-road conditions
- Ducati is also working on a cafe racer iteration of the Scrambler
Ducati may be launching a new variant of the Scrambler called the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled, with the model likely to be first showcased at the upcoming EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy next month.
So far, there is very little information available about the new bike - no images, and no spyshots. The Italian manufacturer has put out a tiny fourteen second teaser video on the Ducati Scrambler website, mentioning the Scrambler Desert Sled. And this has led us to believe that the new model may be unveiled at the EICMA.
A rather quick glimpse of the Scrambler motorcycle shown in the video suggests that there is a metal mesh cover on the headlamp and the colour scheme of the bike is different than those in the current Scrambler range. We are guessing that it will be a limited/special edition Scrambler of sorts, with a few minor embellishments, keeping the 'outdoors' theme in mind.
Reports suggest that Ducati has filed for two new Scrambler models for 2017 with the California Air Resources Board, which go by the name of 'DS' and 'CS'. The DS certainly seems to stand for Desert Sled. There were photos spotted of the Scrambler Desert Sled with long travel suspension and we are trying our best to get those for you. Desert Sleds are like scramblers - 'tricked out' street bikes with beefed up suspension, strengthened sub frame, reduced weight and other performance parts, including free flow filters and performance carburettors. Riders in the 1960s, particularly in southern California, in the Baja region, used to have these 'desert sleds' to tackle the sandy terrain of the Baja peninsula. The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled in a way, will be a tribute to the 1960s 'desert sled' bikes used to race in the Baja desert.
From what we hear, Ducati will also be unveiling a café racer version of the Scrambler at EICMA 2016 as well. Excited much?
