Honda CB150R Unveiled In Thailand

- Honda CB150R is launched in Thailand
- Honda CB150R ExMotion intended for Asian markets
- Based on the Honda 150SS Racer Concept
Honda has unveiled the production model of the Honda 150SS Racer Concept, which was first unveiled at the Bangkok motor show in March this year. The 150 cc Honda motorcycle is called the Honda CB150R ExMotion and is being offered at an introductory price of 99,800 baht (just over Rs. 1,92,000) in Thailand. The styling of the Honda CB150R has been inspired by Honda's big bikes, and the DOHC, 4 valve engine with a six-speed transmission is fuel-injected and is future-ready, meeting Euro 6 emission regulations.
"The new sport bikes, produced for Honda customers today, have been carefully designed to be perfect. I've named five ultimate elements for the model. First, the developers of the RC211, RC213V-S and the supersport series such as CBR600RR are the experts in sport bike who could perfectly transfer the DNA of sport bikes to the new CB150R," said Yoichi Mizutani, president of Honda's Thai subsidiary A.P. Honda Co., Ltd.
"Second, the new 150cc engine which has been developed for top riding performance with excitement. Third, the meticulous design of the body that has shifted the center of gravity to be close to the rider, to make the vehicle to be lighter and easier to control. Fourth, the spec of the model is that of a big bike, including upside-down front suspension, X-ADV 750, radial mount 4 pot calipers, and ABS with G Sensor that have been borrowed from CBR1000RR. Last but not least, we have worked with Japanese leading accessory brands such as Moriwaki, G'Craft, and Kitaco to design special items to make the CB150R even more outstanding."
Other features of the Honda CB150R ExMotion include ABS with G sensor, 296 mm floating front disc brake with radial mount four-pot calipers, lightweight swingarm as well as a fat, 150 mm rear tyre. The Honda CB150R is intended to be sold in Thailand, and other South East Asian markets, and we aren't sure yet, if there are any plans of such a model being introduced in India.

A Honda official told CarandBike that there are no plans in the immediate future of developing any bikes above 200 cc in India. The Honda CBR150R and the Honda CBR250R are currently not listed on Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India's website, although Honda has refused to comment on those two models for now. A source in HMSI says the next few products will be below 200 cc, and that certainly seems to indicate that Honda will be launching a premium commuter motorcycle. Could that be the CB150R? It's a long shot, and early days yet. And with Honda remaining tight-lipped about any future product development, it's difficult to say anything concrete, at least for now.
