Honda India Recalls Africa Twin, Fireblade & Gold Wing For Fuel Injection Issues

The recall has been issued after the company identified an improper setting of the program in the PGM-FI unit of the motorcycles, which could stall the engine while riding.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has announced a voluntary recall for 84 units of the CRF1100 Africa Twin, CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and GL1800 Gold Wing Tour motorcycles. The premium offerings affected by the recall were manufactured between 2020 and 2022. The recall has been issued after the company identified an improper setting of the program in the PGM-FI or fuel injection unit of the motorcycles. Honda says there is a possibility of the engine to stall while riding." However, there are no cases of any failure reported in India to date.

The Honda Gold Wing is powered by an 1833 cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke 24-valve SOHC flat-6 engine with 125 bhp & 170 Nm

Honda will carry out a software update on the affected motorcycles to rectify the issue as a precautionary measure. The update will be done at the BigWing Topline dealerships across the country and is set to begin on September 3, 2022. The update will be done completely free of charge and irrespective of the warranty status of the vehicle. The company says it will be reaching out to customers of the affected motorcycles through its BigWing dealerships, who will notify the owners about the inspection of their vehicle.

Alternatively, customers can check if their vehicle has been affected by the recall using their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the Honda BigWing website. The voluntary recall aims to rectify the issue before there are any potential issues with the motorcycles.
