Jean Todt To Consult Ferrari's F1 Team & Road Car Business

- Todt could return as a consultant for both F1 and road car projects
- Ferrari last won a world title when Todt was still at the team
- Todt recently retired as FIA president after a 12 year stint
Outgoing FIA president Jean Todt was the architect of Ferrari's dominating phase when Michael Schumacher won 5 titles in a row and the team won 6 constructor's titles on the bounce. Now he is set to make a come back to the team after retiring from the FIA where he was for 12 years since his iconic stint at the prancing horse. Reports out of Italy suggest that Ferrari chairman John Elkann had been negotiating a return for the Frenchman who will be in a consultant role, This role could go beyond just the F1 team but also its road car business.
Ferrari won last a constructor's title and a driver's title when Todt was still in charge - with Raikkonen winning his only driver's title in 2007 and 2008 being Ferrari's last constructor's title. Todt has already said that he is open to a role as long as it fits in with his schedule and prior commitments in France where he has road safety initiatives and has a hospital under construction.

John Elkann is the scion of the Agnelli family which controls Ferrari through its holding company EXOR
Ferrari's team principal Mattia Binotto acknowledged the rumors of his former boss returning to Maranello but also said nothing was set in stone and these were rumours so far.
Ferrari is going through a transformational phase. It has a new CEO in Benedetto Vigna who took over in September and has already fired three top executives including its chief technical officer and head of manufacturing. The replacements will be announced in January.
Ferrari has been on two-year program to revamp its engine and have a competitive car in the 2022 season which would regularly challenge for race wins.
