There is no denying that the diesel version of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio is one of the most-awaited vehicles of the year. And the car might finally launch on June 3, 2015, claims a report published on ICN. The report further says that the bookings for the car might begin by the end of this month, as the company is planning to dispatch the first batch of the car to its dealers this week.

Just so you know, Maruti Suzuki has been working on a small 800cc diesel engine for quite a long time that will power multiple small cars from Maruti Suzuki along with an LCV. Earlier, there were rumours that the LCV, codenamed Y9T, would first get this engine, but the company has now decided to introduce it with the Celerio.

This 800cc small capacity diesel engine will churn out a maximum power output of 55-58bhp and a peak torque of 125Nm. Returning an impressive 30kmpl, the Celerio diesel will become the country's most fuel efficient vehicle. Transmitting power to the front wheels of the car will be a 5-speed manual transmission, which is the same unit that powers the petrol version of the hatchback.

Expected to be priced around Rs. 80,000 more than the petrol model, the Celerio diesel will take on the likes of Chevrolet Beat.
