Maruti Suzuki Makes History; Rolls Out 15 Millionth Car

Maruti Suzuki India, today, rolled out its 15 millionth car in the country, becoming the only car manufacturer to achieve the feat here. The 15 millionth Maruti car is a Dzire VDi that rolled out from the company's Manesar plant. It took 31 years and 5 months for the company to achieve this milestone. Just so you know, the company began its journey in 1983, as Maruti Udyog, and a Maruti 800 was the first model to come out of the company's Guragon-based facility. Speaking on this achievement Mr Rajiv Gandhi, Executive Director, Production, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, "Maruti Suzuki's journey has been one of Kaizen and continuous improvement. Our people on the shop floor make enormous contribution so that we can offer more and better to our customers, and fulfill their needs and aspirations". Models that contributed the most in achieving the milestone are - Maruti 800, Alto, Wagon R, Omni, Swift and Swift Dzire. The company further said that its medium term goal is to sell 2 million vehicles annually by 2020. And to do that, the company is planning to expand its product portfolio by entering into new segments and further increasing its sales and service network.
