Maruti Suzuki India has entered a partnership with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) to add more benefits to its loyalty programme - Maruti Suzuki Rewards. With this collaboration the carmaker aims to strengthen the value proposition of its rewards programme by providing its customers benefits pertaining to convenience and value across almost 35,000 IndianOil fuel stations across the country. The company says that the partnership will be valid across all IndianOil fuel stations pan India and will provide a bouquet of services to customers.
As right now the collaboration is in its nascent stage, the services are limited. Effective immediately, all Maruti Suzuki Customers using the Maruti Suzuki Rewards mobile application will be able to search for and navigate to nearby fuel/CNG stations. Additionally, members will also get the latest updates on the CNG fuel pump network of multiple city gas distribution (CGD) companies. However, going forward, the partnership will seek to add more value-based rewards for customers.

Commenting on the partnership, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India, said, “Continuing with the core thought of customer centricity, the partnership with IndianOil will further strengthen the Maruti Suzuki Rewards program and enrich our 7 million plus Maruti Suzuki Rewards customers with higher benefits. With IndianOil’s vast reach of more than 35,000 fuel stations across India, Maruti Suzuki rewards customers will further experience a much more integrated re-fuelling experience. It will help build a stronger connect with customers by providing a premium, reliable and benefit-driven post-purchase experience.”
Sandeep Makker, Executive Director (Retail Transformation), IndianOil said, “We are delighted to partner with Maruti Suzuki India Limited for Maruti Suzuki Rewards program.” Elaborating further on this collaboration he added, “This partnership will give us systematic inroads and help us increase penetration into passenger car segment and transform the fuelling experiences. By developing proper synergy, both the partners can blend their valuable expertise and resources to create seamless and distinct offerings for their customers.”
The partnership will be valid across all IndianOil fuel stations pan India and will provide a bouquet of services to customers.
Right now, more than 30 million transactions are carried out IndianOil fuel stations every single day. And with this partnership Maruti wants to make its loyalty programme more rewarding, convenient, and more enriching for its customers. In our view, the navigation features can certainly be useful feature during road trips or when you are at remote locations, however, many mainstream navigation apps like Google Maps already offer such information. The company will certainly need to come out with some more tangible benefits like for this partnership to become a success. One option could be to allow customers to use reward point to buy fuel.
