Maruti Suzuki Sells Over 50000 Units of AMT Equipped Vehicles

Maruti Suzuki has been doing its best to keep up with the rising demand for AGS equipped vehicles. The waiting period for a Celerio with an automatic gearbox was close to 4 months and it was in November last year that it announced that the waiting period for the Celerio automatic had been brought down to six to eight weeks.
Today vehicles equipped with AGS account for 25% of sales of Celerio and Alto K10 put together. R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki said, "Auto Gear Shift technology's distinct attributes such as affordability, and convenience of driving in stop-go traffic conditions without any compromise on fuel efficiency have led to the popularity of this technology across India. It is another brilliant example of bringing right technology in the right offering at right price. Aligned with our goal of selling 2 million cars annually by 2020, we will focus on bringing these customer friendly technologies in the future."
Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce more vehicles with AMT and to meet the demand for AGS equipped variants, the company was in the process of setting up the manufacturing plant with Marelli at Manesar which was expected to begin production this year.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers auto gear shift models in its Alto K10 and Celerio models. The new Alto K10 manual variant is offered at an introductory price of Rs. 3.19 lakh to Rs. 3.70 lakh while auto gear shift variant at Rs. 3.94 lakh. The CNG variant is priced at Rs. 3.96 lakh (Ex-showroom Chennai).
