Maruti Suzuki XL6 Facelift Spotted Testing In India

- The 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 has been spotted testing in India
- The XL6 facelift is expected to get updated styling and new features
- Mechanically, the 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 is likely to remain unchanged
New spy photos of a heavily camouflaged test mule of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 have surfaced online. While some netizens feel this could be the Toyota-badged version of the MPV, judging by the level of camouflage, it appears to be a mid-life facelift of Maruti Suzuki's premium 6-seater MPV. Maruti Suzuki India has planned a number of new launches in 2022, including the new Vitara Brezza and Baleno, and this refreshed XL6 seems to be joining this list of upcoming new products.
Visually, there is not much that we can talk about, however, based on the exposed sections, we can tell that the car will come with an updated front end, possibly featuring new refreshed, much sleeker headlights. The grille also seems to have been updated and now gets a honeycomb mesh pattern, while the front bumper largely appears to remain unchanged. We do not get a very good look at the rear section however, we expect the 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 to come with revised LED taillights, a revised bumper and possibly new alloy wheels.

Now we do not get to see the cabin in these images, however, it still appears to get a 6-seater layout. Having said that, there have been rumours that Maruti is working on a 7-seater version of the car, which will get a bench seat in the second row and will be dubbed as the XL7. However, there's no confirmation on this yet. As for the XL6 facelift, it is likely to come with an updated cabin with some minor tweaks, and a few new and updated features. Things like the touchscreen infotainment system, multi-functional steering wheels, auto AC, rear AC vents will be retained. Maruti Suzuki could introduce features like a wireless charger and power-adjustable seats to sweeten the deal.

The XL6 will continue to be powered by the same 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine with SHVS
Under the hood, the XL6 will continue to be powered by the company's 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild-hybrid technology, with Li-ion battery. The engine is tuned to churn out 103 bhp and develops a peak torque of 138 Nm, while mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options. Now, there have been rumours about the company planning to reintroduce a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine, which could be offered with the new XL6. However, there's no confirmation on that.
