New Audi A3 Facelift Spotted Testing for the First Time

Now you may think that working on a facelift for the Audi A3, which is just over a year old in the Indian car market, is a little early. But, the fact remain that Audi had launched the A3 in India only in late 2014, while the car had already made its debut in the global markets back in early 2013, which makes it the right time for Audi to come out with a mid-cycle update.

Coming to the car itself, first look at the new Audi A3 facelift will tell you that it is largely similar to the out-going model. And we cannot really complain, considering the fact that it's a mid-cycle update. But, with a keener eye you start noticing some changes like - the new grille, revised front and rear bumper, redesigned headlamps and a new set of alloy wheels.

Similarly, the inside of the car too will come with some minor changes like a restyled cabin along with some new trim options and in addition to some new features and gadgets. There is a slight possibility that Audi might include the new Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster along with other gizmos.
As for its powertrain, it is too soon to comment whether the new Audi A3 facelift will come with upgraded engine options or will continue with the same 1.8-litre TFSI and 2.0-liter TDI units, powering the current generation model. That being said we cannot completely ignore the possibility of Audi's including the new-gen 2.0-litre turbocharged TFSI engine, that will power the new Audi A4 sedan as well.

Audi is still working on the new A3, so we believe the car will make its global debut only around late-2016. This means, the new Audi A3 facelift will reach the Indian car market no soon than late 2017 or early 2018.
