New-Gen Audi Q5 Spotted Testing In India Sans Camouflage

Audi has tested the new-generation Q5 SUV in India for a while now and the carmaker is possibly in the last stages of testing right now. It was just last month that we brought you images of one of near-production test mule and now, a production-ready 2018 Audi Q5 has been spotted testing in India and unlike last time the car was seen sans camouflage and with all the necessary badging. The second-gen Audi Q5 is expected to be launched in India in the first half of 2018 and upon launch will continue to rival the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X3.

The new-gen Audi Q5 is built on the company's MLB-Evo platform, which also underpins the current-gen Audi Q7 and the new A4 and compared to the outgoing Q5, the new one is bigger in size. The new Q5 is now longer and wider and because of the new lightweight aluminum construction, the weight of the SUV has also gone down by 90 kg.

The badging on this Audi Q5 also says "35 TDI Quattro", which means this is the diesel model that comes with the company's 2.0-litre turbocharges oil burner. The engine is also seen in the current Audi Q5 and makes about 174 bhp and 380 Nm, while paired to the 7-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission and of course, the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The new 2-litre TFSI petrol motor could also make it to the India-spec Audi Q5 given the growing demand for petrol vehicles in the country.

On the styling and features front, the new Q5 will come with a face with a large single frame chrome grille, flanked by the carmaker's signature Matrix LED headlamps with dynamic turn indicators. The Q5 also comes with a beefy front bumper with large air intakes for increased airflow. The SUV also comes with new alloys, larger LED tail lamps and a new rear bumper with rear diffuser. The cabin, on the other hand, will Audi's virtual cockpit, ambient lighting, head-up display (HUD) unit as well as the Audi MMI infotainment system and more.
