New Honda Gold Wing Images Leaked

- Next-gen Honda Gold Wing to be unveiled on October 24
- New Honda Gold Wing expected to get DCT variant
- 2018 Honda Gold Wing to get complete revamp
Leaked images of the upcoming new Honda Gold Wing have emerged, and reveal several updates to Honda's flagship touring motorcycle. Apart from cosmetic updates like a full LED headlamp, sharper styling and new bodywork, the next-generation Honda Gold Wing is expected to be offered in a choice of two variants - one with the standard manual transmission and the other with a dual clutch transmission (DCT). The updated Honda Gold Wing is expected to be unveiled on October 24 this year, followed by a worldwide reveal at the EICMA Motor Show in Milan in November.

2018 Honda Gold Wing gets updated styling and a host of upgrades
What the updated Gold Wing gets is a sharper front end, but the changes are more than skin deep. Up front is a new hub-centred steering with a new Hossack-like front fork. Instead of the cartridge-type fork on the outgoing Gold Wing, the handlebars on the new model will connect to a semi-active suspension unit featuring a single spring-shock unit. The revised set-up is expected to make the bike have a lighter front end, greater steering precision and lean angles. At the same time, it's expected to handle better than the outgoing model as well, with less fork dive and flex.

2018 Honda Gold Wing expected to get a DCT variant as well
The engine appears to be a similar flat six unit, but it should get some upgrades as well, and possibly be Euro 5 compliant. One of the leaked images features a different variant of the Gold Wing without a rear top box and a clutch lever, hinting at a very real possibility that the new Honda Gold Wing will in all likelihood be offered in a DCT variant as well. Honda already offers the new CRF1000L Africa Twin with the DCT; in fact, for India, the Africa Twin is only available in the DCT trim in India. In all likelihood, the next generation Honda Gold Wing will be brought to India as a full import, and it's quite likely that Honda may also decide to only introduce the DCT version for India.

2018 Honda Gold Wing to get a completely revamped dash with a TFT screen
The next generation Gold Wing also gets a comprehensive update on the instrument panel and clocks, with analogue dials for the speedometer and tachometer, and three small LCD screens and a large central TFT screen flanked by two dials. Keyless ignition, heated grips and seat, audio and phone connectivity, cruise control, electronically adjustable windscreen and possibly even satellite navigation will be offered as part of the comprehensive features package. Expect more details on October 24 when the bike is first revealed just ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show. In India, the current model of the Honda Gold Wing is priced at Rs. 29.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect the new generation Gold Wing to be introduced in India sometime in 2018.
