New Skoda Rapid Launched; Prices Start at Rs 7.22 lakh

Skoda, the Czech Republic automaker, today rolled out the new Rapid at a starting price of Rs. 7.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While the design of the car remains unchanged, what's different this time is the new engine and an automatic gearbox.
The 2014 Rapid gets a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine, which is the downsized version of the old 1.6-litre engine. However, there is no change in the power, it still churns out a maximum power output of 104bhp and 250Nm. The petrol model has no change, since it continues to feature the 1.6-litre 104bhp engine.
For people who wish to have a slightly sportier looking Rapid, the company has introduced an accessory pack called the Black Package. The package includes black alloy wheels and blackened fog & headlamps. However, one will have to pay an extra sum of Rs 20,000. You can also get the car's roof coloured in black at any Skoda dealer, but that doesn't come under the standard Black Package.
