Over 15 Lakh Maruti Wagon R Units Sold in India

First launched in the year 2000, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has crossed the milestone of 15 lakh cumulative sales in the country. The company sold around 1,56,300 units of Wagon R in 2013-14, whereas in the current year it has already exceeded 93,000 units.

On the achievement of this milestone, Mr Manohar Bhat, Vice President (Marketing) said, "Launched in 2000, Wagon R has been amongst India's top 5 best-selling brands. With its space, features and comfort, Wagon R has been the choice of the "Smart customer" and consistently remained among India's most loved car brands."

The company introduced the CNG trim of the car in 2010-11 which in cities like Delhi and Mumbai accounts for over 50% sales. In 2013-14 Maruti then launched a slightly premium model, the Stingray, in the Wagon R line-up. The Stingray came with features like driver info display, airbag, ABS, first-in-class projector headlamps, black upholstery and alloy wheels.

Powering all the all the variants of the WagonR is a 998cc K-series engine that is good for 67bhp and 90Nm of torque.
