Royal Enfield is getting ready to launch its all-new motorcycle based on the new generation Royal Enfield Classic 350 platform, with the J-series engine. The new motorcycle, internally codenamed J1C1, will be launched in the first week of August, and will likely be Royal Enfield's most accessible model, carandbike has learnt. The Royal Enfield Hunter 350, as it will be called commercially, will be based on the J-platform, which also underpins the Meteor 350 and the new Classic 350. The Hunter 350 will use the same 349 cc, single-cylinder engine which makes 20.2 bhp at 6,100 rpm and 27 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm.

The Hunter 350 will still have a reto-styled modern classic design theme, but will wear a slightly more stripped-down look, with a sporty stance, with a more contemporary roadster silhouette than the '60s inspired design of the Classic 350. But there still will be neo-retro elements like a circular headlamp, round turn indicators, rearview mirrors and a small round taillight. The Hunter 350 is also expected to get a round single-pod instrument console to go with the rounded elements and components, but Bluetooth connectivity and the Tripper navigation pod may not be offered as standard.

The rider footpegs will be slightly rear-set to go with the sporty stance of the Hunter 350, but the riding position will still be upright, offering comfortable ergonomics for everyday use.
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is expected to be a more affordable model than both the Meteor 350 and the Classic 350, and prices are expected to be around Rs. 1.50 lakh. In terms of competition, the new Hunter 350 will go up against the likes of the Honda CB 350 RS and the Jawa 42.
