Skoda has been working on a seven-seater SUV since eons now, having made a lot of its followers patiently wait. Nevertheless, it now seems that the automaker is finally ready to introduce the model with the official reveal expected very soon. The Czech Republic based automaker has shared a teaser image on its Facebook page with the caption "Something Big" and possibilities are high that the supposed 'big' model will be the full-sized SUV likely to be called the Kodia.
Skoda is no mood of show right now and is asking the us to try and figure the model. While details are sketchy at the moment, the Kodiaq SUV makes for a fat chance with the official unveil expect at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year. The premium SUV will be positioned above the Yeti in the automaker's lineup and will be sharing a host of components with parent Volkswagen's Tiguan SUV and is underpinned by the same MQB platform.
Skoda has been testing the Kodiak with stretched Yeti bodies, but the overall design language will be shared with the all-new Superb and Fabia models. Expect to see sharp character lines with the trademark grille, while the overall length is expected to be around 4.75-metres. Inside the cabin, expect to see a host of parts sharing with existing Skoda and Volkswagen models while several creature comforts from the Superb will also make it to the Kodiak. The SUV will be coming in both 5- and 7-seater options and the layout will be similar to the 7-seater Tiguan that is also set to go on sale in select markets later this year.
In terms of powertrain, the Skoda Kodiak will be using the same four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines as the Volkswagen Tiguan with power sent to the front wheels via manual and automatic transmission options. All Wheel Drive will be offered as optional with the Haldex system likely to do duty here as well. Skoda's flagship SUV is expected to go on sale later this year in Europe with production to take place at the Kvasiny facility.

It would be too early to confirm if Skoda will bring the Kodiak SUV to India, given the automaker's weak sales and service network at present. That said, Volkswagen is keen on bringing the Tiguan to India and will also be showcasing the model at the upcoming auto expo along with the highly awaited Ameo compact sedan.
