Suzuki Motorcycle India celebrated 'World Hayabusa Day' on August 21st across the country in eight cities including Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad. The Japanese manufacturer's legendary bike has a cult following in India and this was for the first time that the celebrations were extended in the country.
Commenting on the occasion Mr. Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, SMIPL, said "The 'Hayabusa Day' celebrates the passion and spirit of owning and riding this legendary motorcycle and will instill a sense of pride and exclusivity among Hayabusa owners. We intend to make this an annual tradition to promote the Big Bike Culture and the cult following of the Hayabusa among Indian riders".
Named after the Peregrine Falcon, one of the fastest birds, the Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R is one of the most famous, cult motorcycles in the world. Japan observes 'Hayabusa Day' August 23, wherein Hayabusa owners come together to celebrate the motorcycle. In India, owners and enthusiasts rode the Hayabusa together to commemorate the occasion and was part of the brand's initiatve to promote riding culture in the country. Participants were also given memorabilia on behalf of Suzuki.
Towards the end of its life cycle, the Suzuki Hayabusa has been an iconic motorcycle globally and continues to sell well despite its age. Earlier this year, Suzuki India even commenced locally assembly of the Hayabusa, the first bike in its segment to do so. Competing with the Kawasaki ZX-14R and a host of other high performance offerings, the next generation Hayabusa is also under works and we can only patiently wait for the manufacturer to drop its curtain on the new model that is expected to set a new benchmark, just like the current model has.
