Toyota Working To Reduce Waiting Periods For Innova Crysta And Fortuner

- The Toyota Innova Crysta & Fortuner were launched in India last year
- The Innova Crysta has a waiting period of about a month
- Customers have to wait nearly 3 months for the new Toyota Fortuner
Toyota is working to bring down the waiting period for the Fortuner and Innova Crysta as the demand for the two cars continues to rise. The Toyota Innova Crysta currently commands a waiting period of nearly a month while the new Fortuner has a waiting period of three months. Toyota India has received over 20,180 orders for the Fortuner and has sold more than 12,200 units of the SUV since it was launched in India last year in November. The company has sold over 85,000 units of the Innova Crysta since its launch in May 2016. In fact, the Toyota MPV's sales shot up to 7,259 units in May 2016 as compared to the 4,269 units in the preceding month.

N. Raja, Director and Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) told IANS: "We are capitalising all our efficiencies towards reducing the waiting period. The new Fortuner along with the Innova Crysta is produced in Plant 1 in Bidadi, Karnataka. Plant 1 has a production capacity of 100,000 units in a year and is currently running at 90-95 per cent capacity." He went on to add, "The new Fortuner currently has a waiting period of three months and our focus right now is to reduce the waiting period so that we can deliver the vehicle to our customers."
Toyota has two plants in Karnataka with a total annual capacity of 310,000 units.
Raja said Innova Crysta has achieved a huge milestone since its launch considering the segment which it is in and the price bracket - over Rs 14 lakh to Rs 21 lakh depending on the engine and the variant.

Toyota recently introduced the Innova Crysta Touring Sport special edition at Rs. 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to commemorate the MPV's first anniversary in the country. Offered with both petrol and diesel engine options, the Toyota Innova Crysta Touring Sport receives only cosmetic upgrades including two new and exclusive colour options, gloss black front grille, wheel arch accents, etc.
