TVS Graphite Concept Based Scooter Spied Testing; To Get LED DRL

- The TVS Graphite scooter concept was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo
- The Graphite based scooter will be feature loaded with a sporty appeal
- TVS is likely to reveal the production model at the upcoming Auto Expo
While TVS is currently concentrating on the Apache RR 310, the bike maker has a host of products in development including a new performance scooter. The upcoming offering is said to be based on the TVS Graphite concept that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and was recently spotted in a camouflaged avatar outside a dealership in Bangalore. While we've brought spy shots of this upcoming scooter earlier as well, the latest set of spied images reveal more details about the upcoming offering. The production-ready TVS Graphite based scooter could be on display at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo.

The spy shots reveal that the upcoming TVS scooter will be equipped with a host of features. Although camouflaged, the design looks sporty with the headlight positioned on the front apron and not on the handlebar cowl. TVS is likely to borrow the sharp styling from the Graphite concept, albeit in a much toned down avatar. You also see an LED DRL and LED taillamp. The indicators use conventional bulbs and are mounted on the handlebar cowl. You also get 12-inch alloy wheels and a petal front disc brake.

The other highlight is a completely digital instrument cluster. While details on the LCD unit aren't out yet, it is expected to give a plethora of information and possibly certain connectivity options too. Could TVS offer a few segment first features? We certainly hope so.

The spy images further reveal an external fuel filler cap, premium quality switchgear, engine kill switch, split grab rails and aluminium foot pegs. The exhaust muffler is a chunky unit and gets a chrome guard as well. The suspension setup on the upcoming TVS scooter includes telescopic forks up front and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear.

With respect to the powertrain, details aren't clear on which engine will power the TVS Graphite based scooter. While reports suggest of a 150 cc unit given the plethora of features; TVS could take the more organic approach and offer a 125 cc engine that offers decent performance while retaining the fuel efficiency factor. As a 150 cc model, the TVS scooter will lock horns with the popular Aprilia SR150, which does not have a direct rival yet. Meanwhile, a 125 cc offering will directly lock horns with the recently launched Honda Grazia and the Suzuki Access.
We expect the Hosur-based two-wheeler maker to divulge more details next month. Keep watching this space.
