Two-Wheeler Sales April 2018: Bajaj Registers 19 Per Cent Growth Rate

Bajaj Auto started the new financial year with a decent overall growth rate of 19 per cent in April 2018 where it sold 349,617 units in total as compared to 293,932 units sold in April 2017. These figures combine domestic sales and imports. If we were to break up the sales, Bajaj sold 200,742 motorcycle units in April 2018 in India, which is a growth of 24 per cent over the sales figure of April 2017, where the company sold 161,930 units. Coming to exports, the company exported 148,875 units in April 2018, which is 13 per cent more than the 132,002 units it exported in April 2017.

While the sale of Bajaj two-wheelers was decent enough, it was the sales of commercial vehicles which saw robust growth in sales in April 2018. The company sold 28,722 CVs in April 2018 as compared to 15,957 units sold in April 2017, domestically. This is a growth of 80 per cent only for domestic sales. For exports, the company sold 36,829 units in April 2018 and grew by 85 per cent in comparison to the 19,911 units exported in April 2017. The overall growth of Bajaj for its CVs for the month of April 2018 was 83 per cent, with exports and imports combined.

If we combine the total motorcycle sales and the total CV sales, Bajaj sold 229,464 units in April 2018 domestically. This is a growth of 29 per cent over the 177,887 units sold within the country in April 2017. Similarly, Bajaj exported a total of 185,704 units in April 2018, which is a growth of 22 per cent over the total exports in April 2017 which was 151,913 units.

The total sales of Bajaj, which combines domestic and exports of the two-wheelers and the CVs, is 415,168 units. This is a growth of 26 per cent over the total sales of Bajaj in April 2017, which was 329,800 units.
